As winter progresses, the webcam is down more often than not.
From the safety of my desk I imagine blizzards and avalanches
and am grateful for a sporadic sign of "life" from the other side of the earth.
Tender feelings develop towards this humble aparatus that struggles to defy severe weather
to provide me with a sublime moment.
Sometimes i wonder -who else is watching the mountain? *
* In fact, Iwate-san might not be quite as lonely as it looks in the picture.It has been a popular hiking destination for centuries - Kenji would take his students there-
and another webcam shows booming Morioka City on the foot of the volcano.
