SUNUP (2007-2010)
Maasvlakte, Rotterdam harbor, the Netherlands
webcam composite/ archival inkjet prints, dimensions variable

SUNUP was assembled over the duration of the 6 month exhibit El proceso como paradigma/ process as paradigm using a webcam overlooking Europe's busiest port at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. The camera view shows a string of wind turbines on the horizon next to a coal fired power plant and shifting mountains of containers. The enormous man-made harbor acts as gateway for much of Western Europe's petrochemical and general cargo shipments. Despite great environmental concerns, an expansion of the Maasvlakte is presently being built.
