Alle beelden die zich nu in "Kools' Collections (...)" bevinden zijn verzameld door Renée Kool. Zij zijn afkomstig uit kranten, tijdschriften en andere gedrukte media die zijn verschenen tussen lente 1998 en lente 1999 - de looptijd van het pilotproject De Virtuele School van Stichting Kunst en Cultuur Noord-Holland. Bij de eerste bijeenkomst met de Virtuele School heeft zij de leerlingen gevraagd om alle beelden in gedrukte vorm waar 'hun oog achter bleef haken' te verzamelen: foto's uit dag en -weekbladen, reclames, advertenties, informatiecampagnes - alle mogelijke vormen van beeld waarbij bijvoorbeeld ook aan de combinatie van beeld en typografie en/of kleur en typografie kan worden gedacht. Gedurende de looptijd van het Virtuele School programma heeft Kool zelf ook hele specifieke beelden uit de gedrukte media verzameld. In de bijeenkomsten op het Mendecollege heeft zij een aantal beelden uit haar verzameling onder de loep genomen. En groupe zijn niet alleen vorm en inhoud besproken, maar ook de associaties die zo'n beeld oproept. Samen met de leerlingen heeft zij de impliciete of expliciete verwijzingen gezocht en proberen vast te stellen voor welk publiek een beeld bestemd is en welke vorm, stijl- en betekenismiddelen zijn gebruikt om dat publiek te bereiken.	All images now to be found in "Kools' Collections (...)" were gathered by Renée Kool. They come from newspapers, magazines and other printed media that appeared between spring 1998 and spring 1999 - (the duration of the Virtual School pilot project) At the first meeting with the Virtual School Renée Kool asked the students to gather all images that caught their eye: photos from daily and weekly newspapers, publicity images, adverts, information campagnes. All possible forms of visual communication were to be considered, where for example text, typography and color are combined with the image. In the course of the Virtual School project Kool herself also collected images from the printed media. During the meetings at the Mendelcollege they took a closer look at various images out of her collection. The group not only discussed the form and content but also what associations these images evoked. Together with the students Renée Kool looked for implicit and explicit references and tried to identify which public the images were aimed at, and what form-, style-and meaning indicators have been used to reach that public.
